A very cozy and enjoyable spot. The food was delicious with a good drink selection. The butter shrimp, kimchi, and fried chicken were highlights. Although the tuna sashimi was sold out, I'll definitely return to try it. I am thankful for the outstanding service; the staff were incredibly kind, providing an English menu and even using their phones for translation and recommendations – a unique and appreciated experience during our four months in Japan. Parking is available for a few cars at the entrance and more in front. Note that it is a cash-only establishment, and smoking inside is allowed.

The three of us came with low expectations esp seeing the neon lights outside but left v happy. Outdoor/indoor decor was v basic but the warmth of the family running the place really came across. We were the only non locals in the restaurant that night (Fri Eve). The daughter was a good cook and while some of the food was fast, our fish (hokke) took a while. Everything we ordered was delicious and had a home cooked clean flavour lacking in many Tokyo izakayas (except for the more upper end ones of course). English menu avail with pictures

Had the best meal in Hakone here. Simple and home cooked. The fried chicken was one of the best I’ve had. Love the oden too which was perfect for a cold night. The owners were so friendly and made me feel very welcome. The lady boss used google translate to talk to me as I don’t speak Japanese. Really appreciated that. Do come here if you’re in Hakone. Note that there’s smoking indoors but it didn’t bother me too much.

Absolutely phenomenal dining experience at Ohana in Hakone. Just a charming little walk from our retreat, this place was packed with locals, always a good sign. The sashimi was unreal and incredibly fresh, delicate, and bursting with flavor. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy with a subtle sweetness. What really stood out was the atmosphere, warm, authentic, and unpretentious, and the service was honestly better than most starred restaurants I’ve visited. Ohana is a hidden gem and an absolute must if you’re anywhere near Hakone. Five stars,...
