A local diner near Hakuba Railway Station. Teppanyaki (a hot steel plate on the middle of the table for cooking) and Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes, usually without sugar) available. Local restaurant, but full of internationl tourists in winter - when we visited in early Feb, everyone was a skier/snowboarder from overseas except our family, the Hakuba's inbound demand is amazing.
Ordered Miso Ramen noodles and Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) set meal. The Ramen was huge, the kids were really full. The Tonkatsu has sauce on it. A bit disappointing for me, as I am a soy sauce fan.
Even after 2am, the restaurant was busy with many customers and it took about 45 minutes from ordering to serving. Seemed like they didn't have enough staff to run, but I guess that depends on the season. Cash only. The parking lot is small and finding a room to park...
Read moreReally glad that I stepped into this place for lunch. Local and authentic. We ordered two sets, one stir fried pork, and another is the stir fried vegetables, fried rice and gyoza. The sets came with rice and a bowl of plain ramen. Don't be deceived by the presentation (looks), the taste was great. Too hungry and forgot to take pictures. 😅 I would have tried the okonomiyaki if we could get the table comes with the hot plate.
Was looking for a lunch place while there was quite a bit of snow falling, near Hakuba station. Found this unpretentious place. I would have missed it if not for the very simple signboard. Happy to...
Read moreThis place is like a family diner. Unlike the few places we have explored in Hakuba, this is one of the value for money places we found. A set meal of stir fry meat with veg, rice and ramen is only ¥750. The dishes are like home cooked food, very comforting on a cold winter night. If you reach early, you can order the okonomiyaki and experience cooking yourself at the table.
While its last order is 8.30pm, they kindly allowed us to still go in and order even though we were slightly later than 8.30pm. Thanks for them the children didn’t have to go hungry for a...
