Pete, I refer to the below review by Jack Robertson and your reply. As the mother present in the party of 5, I must correct the situation outlined in your response because it is a gross misrepresentation of certain facts. Pete, your manner and words were not just "a little direct", but actually quite rude and abrupt. Your eavesdropping comments were unnecessary and offensive to us all. Our family has been holidaying in Hakuba at the same hotel every year for the past 12 years and we have never come across a situation like we experienced in your restaurant. I was utterly gobsmacked. But I have since learned that we are not the only ones to have had a disappointing experience in your restaurant. Further, it is plainly incorrect to suggest we "took over the adjoining" table. Jack merely went to place his jacket on the empty bench next to us before you barked at him to move it. Your recollection of a discussion of the kid’s menu, is a complete fantasy. We did not try to “argue” we should order from it, nor any part of your menu for that matter. We had a quiet discussion about it amongst ourselves. You will recall, I did not ask your opinion about the kid’s menu, but I certainly got it. Being the responsible parent with 4 children, it was me who decided to leave your restaurant. There were no theatrics if that is what you mean by “theatresque” (which I do not believe is in the Oxford dictionary). Relevantly, I taught the children that they do not need to put up with this sort of behaviour from anyone. Ever. So, thank you Pete. From your regrettable reply to Jack, I see I made the correct choice. Perhaps show a little humility and say, sorry. Good luck with your...
Read moreWe got off the bus, really didn't know where to go and ended up stumbling into the bar. This was a great experience all in all, picture an Australian owner who really cared about his guests and really wanted to help in any way. Well that's what we got. We stroll in, snowboard movies playing in the background and the smell of fresh pizza smells. We had no idea how to get to our hotel and it was in the middle of no where... The owner called us a cab and even helped us load our boards. Definitely a great first experience if you want to a quick bite. Also, he was able to give us several guide recommendations for out of bounds experienced. Great stop and...
Read moreNo better place to hang out and have a nice Hakuba Brew local beer with a burger and some chips. Great for pre-ski, post-ski, or if you’re snagging a train or bus out of/into the JR Station. The owner, Lucky Pete himself (English and Japanese speaking Aussie), is a fantastic guy and has tons of insight into the town as he’s been there over 10 years now. Would highly recommend you stop over on your way in if you just get off the bus in the station, and just pick Pete’s brain for some insight into what to do and where to go while you await a taxi or whatever it is. Also free WiFi is...
