My wife and I were driving by deciding what to eat when we originally parked to eat at cocos across the street, this restaurant caught our eye and I asked my wife if she had ever seen it before. It had been a while since I have had good Hawaiian food so We walked up to the restaurant and decided to look at the menu posted outside. One of the cooks came out dressed in a Hawaiian outfit, and seemed very welcoming. The inside of the restaurant felt like I was back on Maui in a local Hawaiian restaurant, the restaurant looked authentic, but was the food going to be good? After looking through the menu, we decided to order the garlic shrimp and the steak dish. While waiting for our food the most welcoming manager/owner came out and chatted with us about his time in the Hawaiian islands and how much his passion for Hawaii and the natural beauty of the islands and the phenomenal taste and smell of Hawaiian food. He brought us out some complementary mango and passion fruit juice which made us feel super welcome. Shortly after our lovely conversation, our garlic shrimp dishes came out. I could tell, just by the smell, I was about to be punched in the face with flavor. The shrimp, combined with the right amount of garlic, butter, and seasoning blended together perfectly. Each bite was an experience that had my soul screaming for more. Paired with garlic baguette chips made it even better. After that, the owner came back out and saw the empty plates and with a smile on my face, I told him my exact thoughts of the dish, after that, he brought me out a complementary Coca-Cola to wash it down. After that, the steak came out, smelling amazing and cooked to medium rare perfection the most beautiful looking potato wedges. The steak was ON POINT! Just the right amount of salt, pepper, and sauce to complement the juiciness of the beef and those potato wedges? Perfectly salted, thin, and crispy. After eating I did not want to say mahalo, I wanted to eat more! However, I was too full to eat more so I am going to have to come back again to experience the wonderful Hawaiian taste again.

Read moreWe ate at Maunekea and loved it! The cheeseburgers were delicious with a generous amount of meat—definitely worth the price. The fries and onion rings were also fantastic. Portions are very satisfying, especially for Japan!
We didn’t have room for dessert, but we would’ve tried some if we could. The staff were incredibly friendly and kind—the chef even gave us a free mango juice, which was a lovely surprise! The decor and background music created a great atmosphere too.
Highly recommend this place for tasty burgers, hearty portions, and excellent service. We’ll be back next time we’re...
