和 創 料理 山桜 — Restaurant in Hiroshima

Everything about this place was amazing. Probably the best food we had after traveling in Japan for 1,5 months. After a long day of traveling we sat down at the izakaya and the host was super nice, explaining the menu and even asking us if we ate fish (as this was the amuse). My girlfriend does not eat meat, this was no problem as there were vegetarian (like fried tofu) options and different fish dishes as well, which was nice! The place is small but very cozy, the chef owns the restaurant for 20 years and they had several artists, baseball players and comedians come by to eat there. While we were there, there were only locals. Which I realised is always a good sign!

The chef was very welcoming spoke conversational English which was great to ask about food and other things. I wished we stayed longer in Hiroshima to go and eat here another night, it was wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone who is...

A true Hiroshima classic.

We had two wonderful evenings at this place. Everything we ordered was delicious. We ordered both from today’s special and the ordinary menu. Some of the favourites were the fried fish cakes(a typical Hiroshima dish), tuna sashimi, wasabi pizza, Kampachi fish head, and lotus manju soup.

The atmosphere of the place was just right, not too loud or not too quiet, just a perfect cosy night out with friends at an Izakaya.

The height of our visit however was the hospitality and kindness of the owners and the staff. They were most welcoming and took great care of us. Our second happy visit led to the third dinner with the owners at the Okonomiyaki place next door, which was also just fantastic. Simply the best times we had in Hiroshima.

We have been traveling in Japan for a while and this is the best and most memorable resturant of them all. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic and so was the food.
