One of the more “authentic” Mexican restaurants in Hiroshima. My friend and I ordered chips and salsa (verde) and avocado fritos for appetizers, and I got the beef enchilada for my entree.
Chips and salsa were good! The chips were a bit hard, so I don’t recommend them for people with fragile teeth. The salsa was tasty and tangy. Its spiciness was labelled as one 🌶 but for me, someone who can’t really tolerate spicy, it wasn’t spicy at all. It was just tangy. Really delicious, though.
The avocados were SO good! They’re fried and coated in a nice batter, although they were a bit mushy—something to consider since they are avocados. The sauce on top was 🌶🌶 and it was a bit spicier than the salsa but still tolerable. Not something you need to chase with milk. I would order more of these.
The enchilada was really delicious. It was covered in so much cheese, and the sour cream and guac on top really rounded out the flavours. My plate was literally wiped clean at the end of the meal. NOTE: don’t be dumb like me and touch the red plate. I was wondering why it was served on two plates, my friend said probably because it’s really hot, and so I touched it, and it was really hot. The server did not mention this but I guess it’s common sense and me stupid.
I thought I wasn’t going to be full as the enchiladas were quite small, but the appetizers helped. If you want to be full, you cannot order just one dish.
This is also the first restaurant I’ve been to in Japan that offers complimentary peanuts. Didn’t eat because I’m allergic but...
Read moreThis was one of the worst dining experiences. I am visiting my brother who lives in Japan and he was craving Mexican food - he was so excited to visit this restaurant. We arrived and I ordered an Amaretto with orange flavor, and it was the worst drink I’ve ever had- just straight amaretto and orange juice in a tall glass. I asked to have them make a different drink instead and they refused, saying only if I paid for another drink. My brother ordered a margarita and it was watery with barely any alcohol or flavor. Then a group of 8 ladies came in and asked for a large table. The owner asked us to move to another table. We moved and ordered our food, which was served on paper with French writing (instead of Spanish), and the food presentation was disappointing, especially with the jalapeño poppers being soggy from being set inside a bowl of salsa. Once we started eating another large family came in and the owner, again, asked us to move to another table. We moved of course, but the only “thank you” we received were two shots of tequila, which we later found out were paid for by the family that had requested us to move. My brother finally received his enchilada almost 40 minutes later and it was not great either. This restaurant needs to step up their service and also the quality of their food preparation, as it was completely lacking all around. If you’re going to serve Mexican food in Japan, I recommend learning more about the food...
Read moreI love Mexican food and I am very used to it. The building, facade and inside look very good and you can feel like in Mexico.
Nonetheless, I am a bit disappointed with this restaurant since the waiters cannot speak Spanish, they are all Japanese and the place is quite dirty. I think it would be nice that at least one of the cooks was Mexican. The cutlery was not washed properly, the bucket where it is coming is full of food from previous customers, the table and dishes are also not clean. Therefore, we asked for wet tissues to clean ourselves.
The food is quite average. The nachos were not very tasty and the soft tacos are super small and not very good.
On top of that, this is a non-smoker place, nevertheless the owner of the restaurant was smoking in a table next to us, which is not nice having dinner and breathing all the smoke.
Last but not least, the menu does not include the prices with taxes, so make sure to add +10% to know the price of what...
