I ended up here because all the other restaurants were closed on a Tuesday evening. I waited about 10-15mins outside while they cleaned and cleared the tables. FYI for tourists, please wait outside until they signal for you to go in.
The okonomiyaki is prepared in batches so it might take a while but in the meantime it is always a treat to watch food being cooked in front of you. If you’re in a hurry, best not to eat here.
If you’re a big eater, one okonomiyaki is a good portion. If you’re a smaller eater, you might struggle to finish one, so it’s good to be shared.
The flavours were savoury and sweet, lots of soba and the bacon added a nice texture to it.
This place was filled with locals and the atmosphere...
Read moreWe came here for dinner to try Hiroshima’s okonomiyaki. We ordered the Koshida special and a basic okonomiyaki, along with some high ball.
Overall the taste and experience was decent, but nothing to rave about. If you’re seated at the corner you’d just be served the okonomiyaki instead of having it cooked in front of you. It’s also probably because there’s only 1 chef on duty that night.
Some people have reservations and would end up requiring you to wait 30 minutes or longer just to get a seat to start ordering. So beware if you’re not making reservations.
Verdict: Not bad but would definitely be exploring other places to try okonomiyaki when i’m back...
Read moreDelicious Okonomiyaki fit for a King's tastebuds for the price of a prince's meal. The food is delicious, well worth a trip but also a little small for the price. I could easily down 2 1000 yen pankakes and have room for dessert.
They have an English menu as well. It's got a really fun and local atmosphere and because it's open until 3 am, you can have the experience past the time other shops offer.
The noodles, sauce, egg, and all other ingredients compliment each other to make a pancake that is unusually delicious. Feel free to ask for more sauce as well.
Highly highly recommended, but just be ready...
