Charbon — Restaurant in Hiroshima

Their menu is very different from being an Izakaya. They are western style, and they do not disappoint. We had their ichibo steak, harami ajijo, grilled tomatoes and cheese, scallops and lemon butter sauce, and foie gras. All of them are great, a lot better than what would be the same cost in Tokyo.

I am not sure about what’s the deal with the 120 bottles of wine on the wall, but their wine sections are ok, not as crazy as what’s presented, eg Opus One or Sassicaia.

If you want excellent food, a chilled atmosphere and great service, look no further.

My husband and I came in for dinner during our honeymoon and had such a great dinner.

We ordered lamb chops, chicken wings, baked potatoes (which arrived over hot coals!) The seafood stew is NOT to be missed, think garlic, shrimp and squid was cooked beautifully and so moreish, even the broccoli and veg is cooked and seasoned to perfection, you just can't go wrong!

Yes, only 2 stars because If still the food was ok for the first time in Japan I felt like a tourist not deserving the same treatment as the locals at the next table. Rations are far from being the same as what can be given...
