TLDR: We had our best meal in Japan there! If you want a unique experience eating very fresh sushis in an authentic place, owned by locals who have been running it for ever, go there with your eyes closed! You won’t pick what you eat so you have to be okay with that - but if you are you will not regret it.
This tiny 9 seater is owned by a lovely 75yo couple who have been running it for 57 years. They welcome you with a big smile and although they barely speak English, they will make you feel very welcomed. You will sit at the counter next to a glass cabinet where the fishes of the day are displayed over big cubes of ice. She will bring you a cup of tea and give you the choice between three sets - 1500, 2500 or 3500 yens. No menu. Once you have made your decision, he will start preparing the sushis just behind the glass cabinet. We took the 3500y menu and had 16 sushis (or was it more?), with very generous serves of fish. No idea what half of them were and that is part of the charm. It was fresh and delicious. As we went there at opening time we were the only customers and we had big google translate supported chats with them. A unique expérience and by far our best meal in...
Read moreA Truly Authentic and Heartwarming Sushi Experience
If you are searching for an authentic, homestyle sushi experience far from the glossy, impersonal restaurants, look no further. This incredible little spot is a hidden gem run by a family, and the warmth they extend is palpable from the moment you walk in.
Stepping inside feels like being welcomed into a Japanese home. Behind the sushi bar, you'll find a family team, including a younger man and two sweet grannies, one of whom brings over 50 years of sushi-making experience from Hiroshima. This deep legacy is evident in every piece of sushi they serve—it's classic, expertly prepared, and focused on pure, fresh flavors rather than extravagant fusion.
What truly sets this place apart, however, is the genuine, friendly service. The owners make you feel like an honored guest. Combined with the incredibly affordable prices, this creates an unbeatable value. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for anyone who wants to experience not just excellent food, but the real, heartfelt hospitality that defines Japanese culture....
Read moreOne of the best sushi joints that we’ve been to so far on the trip! We actually just randomly walked past this place and decided to chance on it due to all the great reviews. Run by a very friendly elderly couple who have been doing it for at least 50 years. There’s not many options to pick from - several levels of omakase consisting of about 10 pieces of nigiri. She was encouraging us to eat with our hands for the best experience so we did! We picked the premium option which was ¥4000 per person. They’re very welcoming to tourists and they genuinely do try their best with English. We turned up at 6:30pm on a Friday night and nobody was there to begin with. Whilst we were dining there, all of the other patrons were Japanese speaking locals. All the food was so fresh and so delicious! They do put the food directly on the wooden countertop so either ignore the slight hygiene concern or just wipe over it quickly before the meal starts. Several were smoking indoors with limited ventilation so if you’re sensitive you may...
