One of the better sushi trains I've had the pleasure to visit.
The atmosphere is fun, as the chefs are all in the middle of the sushi train working away and calling out orders etc. which makes everything feel exciting as there is always something going on.
All of the sushi comes with generous sized slices over the rice and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The restaurant is located right on the port, so no doubt they are able to source some of the freshest produce coming in.
Prices ranged from 120 Yen per plate to 410 Yen for your premium cuts. I would budget around 3,000 Yen to try approx. 10 different plates which should get you a good mix of value and premium cuts.
You can either just grab whatever looks nice off the conveyor belt, or you can order with a chef straight from the menu if you want something specific. I recommend trying the Tuna plate which comes with a Lean, Medium and Fatty Tuna.
We arrived around 7:30pm and there was still a queue at this time. In the end we were lucky to be seated and managed to squeeze in for the last 30 mins or so before they closed. I recommend coming around opening time or just a little earlier if possible as you will otherwise certainly have to line up.
Do not miss this restaurant if you are staying...
Read moreWe dropped by Mawaru Sushi Mekkemon Dolphin Port during our time in Kagoshima—and it quickly became one of our favorite sushi stops!
What made it great: • The sushi was incredibly fresh with a wide variety, from seared salmon and tuna to sweet shrimp and scallops. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. • The two-tier conveyor system was fun and efficient—sushi ran on the top belt, and sauces and cups on the lower belt. • The place was lively and welcoming, with cheerful greetings from the staff and a buzzing vibe that added to the experience. • The prices were very reasonable considering the quality. It felt like having top-tier sushi without the hefty price tag.
We also noticed that it’s popular with both locals and tourists. Expect a bit of a wait during dinner time, but it’s well worth it.
Pro tip: Go early around opening hours to beat the crowd. The heart-shaped tamagoyaki and seared mayo salmon were standout dishes. Don’t forget to try both the sweet and salty soy sauces too.

Read moreWe came across this amazing conveyor belt sushi restaurant and can highly recommend it for various reasons (also, there is an English menu available)
For one; it’s just incredibly entertaining atmosphere. Staff is very enthusiastic, grabbing items from the belt is fun and food comes through very quickly.
Second, the sushi is just amazing. We’ve tried various restaurants and are amazed by the freshness and quality of the food. It’s fun to grab food from the conveyor belt, however we can recommend ordering specific dishes as they come fresh.
Lastly, the price. We ate quite the amount, however we were surprised by how less we had to pay compared to what we thought it would be.
To conclude; we can highly recommend this restaurant. The other reviews mention that sometimes it might take a while before you’re actually seated, and that is true. We were there on a Saturday evening and had to wait for approx 40 minutes, but.. it’s definitely worth it!
Thank you for this...
