Be warned! Don’t order tea! I couldn’t believe it when we received the bill - ¥1,760 for 4 cups of Oolong Tea which was rather bland and ordinary (most likely from a teabag). We made the mistake of not checking the price for tea as the menu was only in Japanese. We chose this restaurant because of the good reviews. When we ordered the food, we had to use google translate to decipher what to order.
This is the most expensive tea we had in Japan and in all the Asian restaurants we have dined during our lifetime. (We have dined in countless Japanese restaurants, including Michelin ones). Most of the restaurants offer free tea and even if they charge, it is refillable. We happen to ask for another cup so we ended paying for 4 cups of super-expensive tea for 2 persons.

We walked by the place one night & it’s full housed. We returned on a Monday night at around 8 with only few seats left. This place is popular!
No English menu was available but we ordered what others were having by pointing the food to the chef 🤣 (we sit in front of him) He had no problem with that & even recommended few dishes.
All dishes were locally sourced & nicely prepared. The sake was inexpensive with a great local collection, we tried 4-5 kinds. All great.
At last the chef even presented a dessert with fireworks saying “welcome to Kagoshima” 🎇 It was by far one of the best dining experiences in Kagoshima hands-down.
