one of relatively few hotels in Kagoshima city that offer a baby bed
Location: Excellent. Just outside of tenmonkan's arcade on densha dori. The airport bus stop is virtually directly outside the hotel on the same side of the road as the hotel.
Cleanliness: Very clean. We stayed as a family of 3 for 1 week, including a toddler still in diapers. The room never smelled, fresh towels and linens were provided everyday, all shed hair from showering/ blowdrying was gone every time we got back into the room.
Comfort/ space: With the baby bed in our room, the space was a little tight but worked out just fine. We just had to be a little more creative with our space by sliding the table out from in front of the mini fridge and back again when we didn't need it. However, this was because no bigger rooms which accommodate the crib better were still available (which I know because the staff originally offered to place us into a bigger room and then realized they were all booked out).
Closet space is NOT good. The bar doesn't hang across the small closet but vertically outward which allows only 4 hangers and there is nowhere else to hang things as there isn't a retractable line to pull out over the tub as they often have in some business hotels in Japan. If you pack light, you'll be fine. If you have a lot of bags or large luggage, you'll have to figure out where to put stuff. As we were 3 in a room, our bag was only medium size but we had 2 carry-on bags (one diaper bag, one bag of snacks and toys for the toddler) and it was manageable but not great.
Shower pressure was fantastic and especially enjoyed the rain shower. Not a small unit bath as most business hotels have. The toilet is detached from the bathroom in a separate space just as it is in most Japanese homes and the space in the shower and tub area is therefore comparatively roomy. The hotel body soap smells quite nice too (didnt use their shampoo/conditioner so can't speak to that). Beds were comfortable, not too soft or too firm. Pillows were also good.
Quiet/ light: way above average for quality of sleep. No noise pollution from densha dori trams whatsoever. We never heard any neighboring rooms unless guests were in the hallway. Unlike most hotels in Japan that have irritating blinking lights on multiple devices in the rooms, the room was nearly black out dark with lights off and the shade down. If you can not sleep well with even small amounts of light or outside noise in the room, I highly recommend it.
Staff / service: The staff were very accommodating to us and scheduled our cleaning time as requested so our child could take her usual nap. They also refunded us 1 night stay without any problem when we checked out a day early due to a coming typhoon.
View: our room was oriented towards the back of the building so we didn't have a great view except of the sunset. However we also weren't smack up against another building blocking the view and had lots of daylight. Rooms oriented towards the front will have a view of the trams on densha dori and the main strip and if the room is on a high enough floor, possibly also of Sakurajima volcano...
Read moreThis was suppose to be a solo trip for me but my mom decided to hop on and she would not stay at any hostels. For that reason, I had to do lots of research in finding a space that was budget friendly for me but also in a convenient location for our travel purposes. ||For us, Remm did the job. It was about a 10-15 min walk from the station and about the same to the port/ocean. We walked on to the port to go to Sakurajima but would take the tram to the station for 170¥. We were able to catch the 6:07 tram to the station to catch an early Shinkansen to Hiroshima. ||The hotel itself is very modern looking. We shared the double standard room. The bed was big enough for us but we are both under 5’2”. The washroom was decent size for us and the room included a safe. They also had razors, shower caps, blow dryer and all shower amenities in the room. At the lobby (3rd level), there were teas that you could take up to your room. ||There was a mini fridge but emphasis on mini. In the fridge, they gave two bottles of complimentary water. Now, we chose not to have our room cleaned as we only stayed two nights so not sure if they give you more after that. ||The staff were helpful when needed - English was pretty good - enough to get by and understand.||Behind the hotel is their parking lot and across the street from the front was a Don Quijote. About one block down is their main covered shopping street. ||In Amu Plaza (in the station) there is a great grocery store in the basement level. They have a great hot deli. You just grab a container, fill it with what you want and pay by weight. We never ever exceeded 500¥ each for our meals. They also have some pre-made plates if you so choose. What I liked about this place was that they had a microwave to heat it up right after you pay. Often times, these food places in Japan aren’t always serving the food hot so it’s nice to be able to heat it up.||We would recommend staying here if you’re on budget and need a...
Read moreGood location only a 5 minute walk away from Tenmonkan airport bus stop. Several other buses & trams that serve the city also stop along this busy main street making the hotels location extremely convenient. Slightly further away however is Kagoshima Chuo station being about 20-25 minutes dependant on if carrying luggage. ||Entrance is smart, but lobby is situated on the third floor so took the lift to check in. Staff understood English and very polite. No issues on checking in or out. Room was clean, bed comfortable, I liked the surprise that the chair in my room actually had a massage function. I experienced no problems or issues during my stay. ||Minor suggestion would be for earplugs to be made available for amenities, likewise some amenities could be situated on each floor as opposed to having to go down to the lobby to collect these. Very minor points however and I enjoyed my stay, and I feel it reflects the amount I paid for the cheapest...
