Fresh kaiten sushi place in Kamakura (based on my visit in january 2015) -
Food: 4 stars Price: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Ambiance: 2 stars Overall: 3.5 stars
Food: I ordered a 360 yen plate with seared tuna, seared salmon belly, and flatfish fin (#77). It was just right. I then ordered a 450 yen plate with salmon roe battleship roll, Minced tuna with onion battleship roll, and fresh sea urchin roe battleship roll (#81). I love sea urchin, and it was really fresh. I then ordered another 450 yen plate with whelk, ark shell, and scallop (#78). I like how everything from this plate is chewy and fresh.
The first plate was my fav, and I was pretty much full after each those three plates (9 nigiri sushi).
Price: Depends on what you wanna eat, they have many different prices per plate, from 110 yen to 450 yen. I only ordered 3 plates, but it's like 1260 before tax. It's actually ok if you convert the price to USD, so it's like $1.16 per Nigiri before tax. Again, you can pretty much find fresh sushi anywhere in Japan... even if it's in the middle of nowhere.. haha!!!
They also have Nigiri boxes for like 1300 yen for 10 Nigiri sushi. If you just wanna get some full and doesn't care about what you get, I guess that's an option as well.
Service: I had to wait a bit for a seat because it's lunch time. After waiting for 10 minutes, I got a seat next to an old Japanese guy at the counter. He was wondering why I never said anything when I ordered food since I always pointed to the picture.. Well, I can read Kanji but I can't say it since I never studied Japanese... sigh!!! It's okay, I guess he isn't used to foreigners haha...
Ambiance: The ambiance is fine.. It's just like every kaiten sushi place.. You don't really expect much from these places since people just go there, eat, and leave in a very fast speed..
Overall: The sushi were fresh!...
Read moreFor dinner during my trip to Kamakura, I initially planned to go to Shinjuku. However, by the time I returned to Shinjuku, it was already late. I happened to notice a conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Kamakura that was still open and had a crowd inside, so I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, it turned out to be a delightful experience with plenty of fresh sushi options.
One of the standout dishes was the shrimp sushi. The shrimp was incredibly fresh and had a sweet and succulent flavor. I also enjoyed the sea urchin nigiri and the scallop sushi, both of which were delicious. What made it even better was that the prices were very reasonable, making it a great value for the...
Read moreIt’s been over four months since we travelled back from Japan. Objectively speaking, I don’t recommend any dishes in this restaurant. The chef who made the sushi that night was standing closer to us and we noticed those unwelcoming and weird looks through his eyes towards the walk-in non-Japanese-speaking customers(including us) for the first time in Japan.( In general, the customer service is excellent based on our whole traveling experience.)Every single piece of sushi we ordered was way smaller than the ones being ordered by two Japanese- speaking ladies sitting next to us. The cashier lady was nice and patient. My conclusion is you would never get what you pay for at...
