Bar tanpopo — Restaurant in Kanazawa

This is not a cocktail bar. This is a place for a highball only. And it was a very overpriced experience- we paid ¥6000 for two drinks.

We were quite surprised of the positive reviews after our visit. I ordered a gin and tonic and my spouse ordered an Old Fashioned. After he ordered the drink, the female bartender asked if that was a cocktail. First bad sign.

She then disappeared into the back for 5 minutes. She came back and we could hear her stirring a drink. Then she went to the back again and was talking on the phone. Then she came back again and we could hear her stirring a drink.

Was solo traveling and spent New Year’s Eve at kanazawa. Decided to check out bar tanpopo as there were many positive reviews. Had the loveliest time drinking yamazaki whiskey and counting down to New Year with the friendly owner and another patron. The owner’s family returned in time for new year too which just added to the atmosphere. The bar has a fantastic ambience too that was cozy and intimate.
