Delicious food with a cozy atmosphere! My partner and I shared the pizza toast, banana cinnamon toast, and cake of the day, which was a spiced tea chiffon cake. The pizza toast had delicious sweet onion and ham, with a fresh and well-seasoned tomato sauce. The banana cinnamon toast was incredible. Thick and juicy slices of banana with a cinnamony-sweet syrup on top. The cake was quite spongy and light, which paired really well with a bit of their fresh whipped cream. I also had an iced milk coffee, which was a bit milky for my liking, but still tasty.
The atmosphere was complete with the chirping bird and Kraftwerk on vinyl playing in the background. Very nice and accommodating...
Read moreI came here because I wanted to know if the name of the cafe had anything to do with the Japanese noise artist Merzbow. I asked the man working there about the reasons behind the name, and he showed me a book indicating “Merzbau” is the name of a painting done by the avant-garde German artist Kurt Schwitters. I then discovered that Merzbow named himself after Merzbau as a tribute (after independent research).
All very interesting considering avant-garde is the last word I’d use to describe the atmosphere of this place. It was homely, cosy, had a resident budgie and they were playing The Beatles.

Read moreSuch a darling place!!! The music and books were so cool, the two workers were so nice and friendly and accommodating to my food allergies, and there was a nice little bird. We got the milk coffee, pizza toast, spiced tea chiffon cake, and the cinnamon banana toast. Everything was so good. The cake texture was amazing and I loved the onion on the pizza toast. Don’t get me started on the cinnamon banana toast. I would go here again...
