COYA — Restaurant in Kanazawa

Woke up early to explore Kanazawa, and intentionally went to this bakery shop near Oyama Shrine, which was bookmarked by my friend. . She bought Canelé and Gateau Chocolate with Sake Kasu.

The Canelé had a dark and caramelised crust, creating a crispy texture. Its interior was flavoured with light rum and vanilla.

A tiny shop packed with delicious cookies, bread rolls with various fillings and tarts. We had a bit of everything and it was all really well baked. You can taste the flavours, it's well balanced without anything overpowering.

The lemon tart is definitely their strongest bake.

Cash only as other reviewers said. It's take away only. The owner said on Sundays there's table service upstairs.

The biscuits are particularly tasty and crunchy, I don't understand the comment a reviewer made about shortbread and the comparison they made with the UK...

Arrived early as heard things sell out quick. Bought a bunch of baked goods to try including a fig tart, lemon cake, raisin biscuit and a beautifully chewy bagel. The biscuit paired great with a jar of blood orange marmalade they sell from Restaurant Ota. Everything was fantastic and super happy they are open at 7. Take cash as they don’t accept cards.
