We had dinner at Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu during our stay in Kanazawa, and it was such a cozy, satisfying spot — especially after a full day of sightseeing. It’s just a short walk from Hyatt House Kanazawa and specializes in gyukatsu, a breaded beef cutlet that you finish grilling yourself at the table. We tried both the Chuck Tail Flap Gyukatsu Zen (leaner) and the Sirloin Gyukatsu Zen (juicier — our favorite), and both were delicious. They also offer a half-and-half set, which is great if you want to compare. Our kids shared the Shrimp Tempura Set, and it was light, crispy, and toddler-approved. Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of dining at this gyukatsu restaurant in Kanazawa, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The beef was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The highlight for me was the variety of sauces; each one added a unique flavor that paired perfectly with the gyukatsu.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy yet refined, which made it the perfect spot to savor such a special dish.
If you’re in Kanazawa, do yourself a favor and visit this place. It’s a culinary gem you won’t...

I’ve had gyukatsu in Tokyo and this was a lot better. Great selection of cuts of beef, even salmon, giant prawns. We ordered the waygu and Japanese sirloin, waygu was obviously better. Not too oily and I like how you can cook your meat longer if desired. Also added a giant prawn and refill of the tenderloin.
There was one guy running the entire floor by had and he was really great with service and explaining everything.
This is one of the places if I was wanting gyukatsu, this is at the top...
