Teppanyaki makibi san-an — Restaurant in Kanazawa

On our last night in Kanazawa, Japan we “accidentally “ had the best meal of our entire 16 day trip when we walked in the door of Makibi San-an. They graciously accepted us for dinner without a reservation (which I don’t recommend….we were lucky). And we proceeded to have the most wonderful meal with excellent service! Such attention to detail!! The wagyu course meal was better than we could have imagined! We were served 2 cuts of Wagyu—-sirloin and tenderloin. Both were cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. I would come back to Kanazawa again just to enjoy this meal again! Each and every course was perfection, but the steak was the standout. Our dining experience was memorable. Authentic fine dining teppanyaki restaurants are not common in our country. Waitress spoke English and helped explain the menu options and service was exceptional throughout. The lobster, filet Mignon and sirloin were all delicious and cooked to perfection. Salad and seasonal vegetables so fresh and seasonings were used to add depth to the meat and vegetables. Dessert was just right. We were treated respectfully even though we obviously have never been to a Japanese restaurant of this style. We will treasure our memory of this...

What a wonderful restaurant. It is a little hard to find as the sign is quite small, but once inside, it is the experience of a lifetime. We chose the "cheapest" set, and there was more than enough food. Amuse bouche, fish, special Caesar salad, fois gras and vegetables, superb beef, and assorted side plates.
