I rarely leave a bad review(in fact, this is the first one in Japan) but I am really disappointed today. First of all, this place doesn't have the luxurious feel of its price tag. Everything just looks mediocre. Secondly, you have to pay 25000 yen for a dinner course with kobe beef, which is what most people come here for, right? For 15000 yen, you only get regular beef from another Japanese prefecture. I optioned for a black abalone, which is 13000 yen per 100 gram(!), and the abalone was way salty. I have visited tons of teppenyaki restaurants and this one is definitely the most salty abalone I have ever tried. Thirdly, two Japanese customers came in after I started my meal, the chef (there was only one) suddenly turned into a different person and interacted with them endlessly, leaving me basically in the dark for 10 minutes to wait for my rice dish(which is also mediocre to say the best), and they conveniently forgot to mention there is also a surcharge for beef hashed rice. I understand Japanese people like to interact with their compatriots but the contrast here is near absurdity. He barely said a sentence to me after they came in. Fourth, the total charge I spent was almost 30000 yen and I felt like I could get something so much better than this dinner. I deeply regret coming here, and it is beyond me how this place got a 4.9 rating on Google. So here is some honest feedback for future googlers: take your...
Read moreThe chef kept speaking Mandarin at us even though we are not from China.. Not all Asian tourists are Chinese, you know?
Also, he kept making mistakes as if it was his first day at the job. The head chef keeps telling the guy what to do and how to cook the food. He even spilled the pepper on my plate.
Overall, it was not a pleasant experience. The only person who did a great job was the nice server.
I booked a reservation at this restaurant on the day because I wanted to try Kobe beef while travelling in Kobe with my family, but was very disappointed.
This is by far the worst experience I’ve had as a...
Read moreI visited for dinner after making a reservation, and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I had one of the set menus, and the food was quite good, focused on a fairly simple preparation with high quality ingredients. A highlight (besides the Kobe beef), was the curry rice - I’ve never had curry rice quite like this. I was the only person in the restaurant when I visited, but the service was fantastic. I don’t speak Japanese that well, but the restaurant was prepared for this, and already had an English menu prepared.
If you’re reading this and thinking about going, don’t hesitate. You...
