Wife, infant daughter and I wanted to get away from the overly touristy spots by the train station and went a little off the beaten path to try our first Kobe. We don’t regret it at all.
To start, on arrival (1300) the host/chef helped us into a back room where we could fit the stroller safely and had direct overhead A/C for the baby. I’ll admit the normal seating looked cozier but this spot made sense for us. He was incredibly polite, the service was amazing, he even helped me to get the stroller back out when we finished.
The food was 10/10. I’ve never had beef that good. I personally got a 200g sirloin and the “hanberg”. The meat was juicy, flavorful, and melt in your mouth. It wasn’t cheap, but it was less expensive than the train side locations and was worth every penny (yen lol).
I have also read that some of the more touristy locations do not in fact treat tourists well. While I can’t speak for this, I can say that we were very welcomed into Wagyu Jockey. After saying we were American he started playing 80s jams (Rick james type stuff lol).
If you’re in the area (not a bad train ride from Osaka) this is absolutely...
Read moreOur family recently enjoyed a delightful dinner at Wagyu Jockey in Kobe. We ordered a variety of dishes: steak, hamburger steak, and a seasonal stew. My wife, who isn't typically a steak enthusiast, was thoroughly impressed. She described the steak as 'melting in her mouth,' which speaks to its exceptional tenderness. The hamburger steak was a fantastic value, offering great taste at a reasonable price. The seasonal stew was equally impressive; the meat was incredibly tender and paired perfectly with rice. We also savored their homemade bread, which was wonderfully soft.
However, there were a couple of minor inconveniences. Firstly, it's worth noting that all patrons are required to order a beverage.
Secondly, the credit card terminal was out of order during our visit, so I had to make a quick trip to a nearby 7-Eleven to withdraw cash.
Despite these small hiccups, the quality of the food at Wagyu Jockey was outstanding, and we would certainly recommend...
Read moreI visited there the other day after making an advance reservation. This neighborhood on Hunter Saka leading to Ijinkan Street is lined with delicious restaurants. I think there are more particular restaurants than before. This restaurant serves hamburger steaks and beef steaks together. It is nice to be able to choose the number of grams of steak. First, let's toast with a draft beer! I ordered two hamburger steaks with truffle-scented teriyaki sauce and a 150-gram Kobe beef thigh steak. The soup in the set was pumpkin soup. I had a salad and waited for. Well, the hamburger steak and beef steak arrived! I would like to drink beer, but let's concentrate on the hamburger steak and meat. The hamburger steak is browned and steamed to perfection. Enjoy the natural flavor of the meat. The lean steak was so delicious that I devoured the 150 grams in no time. I should have ordered more. It is very nice to dine in a relatively quiet...
