Probably the best stateside pizza I have had in the Kansai region. Pizza Slice in Tokyo still has the best NYC-style pizza. This location is minimal, clean, and has friendly service. I believe the novelty of the store is the selling point.
I honestly enjoyed the pizza; it was a larger pie slice but had a dry, crispy style crust. I still prefer a chewiness to the dough, but this was a unique fusion of Japanese and American pizza. The slices, of course, are all premade, but the way they warm it up before serving doesn't do much. The cheese is still hard, not stringy at all, again a very dry slice of pizza.
The pricing was not the best; you could pretty much grab a whole pie in most other places in the states for the same price. I am not sure why pizza is so expensive in Japan; the ingredients are readily available and not hard to find. Wouldn't mind grabbing a beer while scarfing down a slice, but I wasn't willing to fork over $7 for a PBR.
Really liked the interior design, it was refreshing, as it did feel a little like being back in the states, a little mixed up in decorations, as they had items from NYC and California, but it was still a...
Read moreAn awesome little spot in Kobe. There are a handful of flavors available at any given time, all the flavors I have personally tried were excellent, though personally classic pepperoni is the best for me. There are also other amenities available on the menu including some alcoholic drinks. The primary draw of the restaurant is its strong American feeling. Everything from the way the store is laid out, to the decorations, to the authentic New York style pizza will give off a nostalgic feeling for any American Expat. The unique theming of the restaurant around Jesus also makes for a fun visit. Pricing is fair for slices and whole pizzas. There is not a lot of room inside to sit down, but as it is primarily a takeout restaurant, I wouldn't be worried about not being able to find a table in a reasonably...
Read moreFor a moment I found myself back in New York, enjoying my favorite comfort food. Holy cow, Jesus Pizza is the real deal. The thin crust. The way the cheese and pizza meld into one. The size! The way you can hold the slice by creasing the middle just right. THIS is the best pizza I have had in Japan. Many spots claim to have NY pizza, but almost none do. Take it from a native New Yorker, Jesus P passes the test and could be sold in any of the...
