As a resident of Kumamoto and a woman, I do not recommend this bar at all. Firstly, I have had multiple friends groped here and the staff do not care at all about the women being assaulted at their venue (often because they want to ‘protect their friends’ who are customers etc). Secondly, having not been here for a while (due to the previously mentioned treatment of women) we visited as a last resort tonight and were aggressively shouted at by 2 bartenders within 5 minutes of entering the bar. One of them was clearly drunk and quite scary (especially from the perspective of a young woman). After me and a friend had already been shouted at by this staff member for not buying a drink (within 5 minutes of entering the bar), we did actually attempt to go and buy drink (which I sincerely regret now). We naturally were not keen on being served by the drunk and aggressive staff member who had been verbally assaulting us prior so we asked for a different member of staff. However, when we told him how we had been treated by his colleague, he then proceeded to shout at us for apparently always coming into his bar and not buying drinks (we had not been there for 6 months at least and when we had previously had always paid for multiple drinks and shots). In sum, if you want to visit an international bar with good vibes do NOT go here. There are many other fun bars in the area where you will not be verbally attacked or...
Read moreEdit: I have since come around to this place. I think it really depends on the night you come in, and the mood you are in. I have since met the owner and his wife. Turns out they live in my neighborhood. The first couple times I came it was just post lockdown. So wasn't really happening. Last time I went I had a freaking blast.
Not a bad place, just not my cup of tea.
The place has been here a while but it looks like it was furnished from stuff pulled from the side of the road. Nice pool table. Decent drink selection. When we went to pay we had to tell the staff what we ordered... Oh I just had water. Bye!
If I was 15 years younger I would like this place a lot more. I'm old and boring now and enjoy more intimate settings with a couple friends. This place is very open and big and easy to socialize, I don't like that... So not a bar place per say,...
Read moreI came to this bar last night, sat downI and started chatting with a guy named Todd. as it turned out, he is one of the people who run the place. I told him I was a solo traveler and that it was my birthday, and from that moment things just took off.
Todd went all out. He started making special shots for the whole bar, opened a bottle of champagne, and made sure everyone was celebrating with me. It turned into an unforgettable night, all because of the kindness and energy of the people there.
For me, as a solo traveler who is far from his family and friends, it meant a lot and was very heartwarming.
If you are in Kumamoto and looking for a place that truly feels like home, go to this bar! Amazing drinks, amazing vibe,...
