We have eaten at Luke’s and Luke’s Clubroom many times and had equal expectations at Niseko.
Our reservation was for 8:30 and their website represents 2 hour sittings for all reservations.
The food was good, as expected and the service was good for a ski resort.
We had our meals rushed out minutes after our entrees were finished and Then once the mains were served a few minutes later we were asked to decide if we wanted dessert. It was 9:10pm.
We enjoy fine dining and expect the price to reflect the experience. (y100,000K+ for 2 adults and 2 children was fine if the experience was commensurate)
This was fast food at fine dining prices and we should not have been subjected to being sprinted through our meal just because we were the last table at 8:30. Then they added an automatic 10% gratuity. Nothing mentioned in the booking about this. I am accustomed to tipping - but Japan does not have a tipping culture and for this experience I certainly would not have tipped 10%. Just felt arrogant.
If you want to experience a really great meal with commensurate service I’d choose HITO at MUWA Hotel next to where we stayed at Skye. Great food, timely service and we weren’t made to feel like we were dining at Sizzlers.
I imagine it will be a slippery slope in...
Read moreI first dined at Luke’s in December when they first opened. To say that I was blown away is an understatement. The food was out of this world delicious! Each bite had me salivating and wanting more. We started with the seafood tower that had crab, oysters, shrimp and clams. Everything was so fresh! We then shared tuna tartare and the fried oyster sliders. For mains we had the tenderloin and pork chop and fish schnitzel (which was definitely my fave!) we had the crab mac and cheese and kale salad for sides. Also both delicious! I’m full just writing this! We of course had to make room for their dessert, and no joke, this was the best chocolate chip cookie I’d ever tasted! We even had to return the next night for more cookies and and an espresso martini after the ramen we had next door! Luke’s Alpine won’t disappoint! The staff were super friendly and eager and really took care of us all night! The vibe was lively and the music was such a good playlist! We will definitely be...
Read moreVisited Luke’s one month back when I was in niseko. Decided to dine there to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The experience was amazing. Great service from the staff, a few were from the Singapore restaurant there to manage this ”pop-up” restaurant. They were really nice and helpful throughout. We had the clam chowder (which they offered to split into 2 for us as we were sharing), tuna tartare, rib eye and King crab mac n cheese. Every dish was spectacular especially the beef. Special shoutout to the dessert. Only one choice in the menu but we were both wowed by it. The stout milkshake and chocolate chip cookie was perfection… Still thinking about it...
