Tasogare in Kyoto (Owner Tory) was one of the highlights of our trip. We booked a sake tasting and from the very first moment it felt like coming home. The host welcomed us with a warm smile and took so much time to explain each sake in a way that was easy to understand and really interesting, even for beginners.

This is hands down the best bar in Kyoto—and easily one of my favorites anywhere in the world. We discovered it by chance after a disappointing experience at another nearby sake bar, and it completely turned our evening around.

Tori, the owner, is exceptional. His deep knowledge of sake and whisky is truly unmatched, and he has an extraordinary ability to intuitively understand and cater to each guest’s preferences. He’s a kind, soft-spoken man whose warm and gracious demeanor elevates the entire experience.

The selection of sake and whisky is outstanding, and there are occasionally thoughtful food pairings that enhance the overall experience. The bar is intimate, with just eight seats, which adds to its charm and exclusivity.
