Read moreWe just checked-in this evening. After a fantastic dinner we tried to sleep looking forward to having a happy Sakura experience in Kyoto tomorrow. Unfortunately it is impossible to sleep. The noise from the street is not letting you. All night long cars and motorcycles - sometimes at traffic lights in front of the place inpatiently waiting and accelerating noisily for their turn - shop announcements every other minute and even people's talk can be heard at the 8th floor. Windows are very simple and absolutely no soundproof or isolation (cold is coming to your head as the bed os located head to windo. Same as all walls of the room. Every door closing in the same corridor awakes you - that much cheap the inner construction must be - just covered with some nice looking wallpaper. The hotel is aware and offers ear plugs at reception. Ever seen a hotel giving ear plugs? I travel more than 30 years allover the world but this one for the price they ask is a shame. If not for sleep - why you book a hotel? The staff is not really helpful either - offered another room apparently less noisy against a surcharge and for only one night.... Location, cleaning etc. is worth nothing (!) if you are unable to sleep. Our vacation in Kyoto is destroyed. Advice to other tavellers: This is not about noise sensitive people. This is for normal people (unless they are drunk or exhausted to fell asleep). Not worth to pay more than a hostel with a 12 bed room - and I guess that in a hostel we could sleep better. Noise vídeo attached is just few seconds at half past midnight but if you hear ever other minute it is nit funny. Now it's almost 2am.... We think to scrap our days here and return to other place. We love Japan. It was the not my first time to visit Kyoto but never I stayed in town. A daytour from Osaka would be better. We regret coming here and...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for 5 days for our Kyoto leg of our tour of Japan.
What drew us to this hotel is the location which is in the middle of the Kyoto shopping district, close to bus and subway lines and the picturesque Kamo river and it's cherry blossom filled canal. It is also close to convenience stores like Family Mart/Lawson/7-eleven which is handy to buy provision like water or fruit for our day trips or beer/drinks for unwinding in our room before dinner.
The common areas and rooms are modern and impeccably maintained. We booked a room with one queen bed and it is spacious enough for the two of us including our luggages. The room also includes a mini fridge and there is an ice machine/microwave/vending machine on several floors.
We didn't include the breakfast while booking but instead decided to pay for it as needed, for around 2,000 yen per person. It runs from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM and offer of variety of Japanese and western style dishes like bread, croissant, pain au chocolat, ham, egg, potatoes/fries, rice, fish, salad, fruits (pineapple, oranges, banana), yogurt, waffle, sausage, pastrami, miso soup, tea, coffee, milk, juice, cereal, egg, shrimp/vegetable tempura to name a few.
One thing to mention is that our room faced the street and even though we were on the 5th floor it is still quite noisy. It didn’t bother us too much but light sleepers beware.
We highly recommend this hotel but book it in advance to get a good price and ensure...
