I had to walk more than 15 mins from my hotel to get there and began to wonder if it would be worth the effort. It turned out to have made every bit of my effort worthwhile. The coffee was so superb that I ended up going there twice during my stay. I think drip coffee is their specialty. I tried Take it Easy and Really Good Luck. Both were complex and flavorful coffees whose flavors evolved as you drink it. I liked them so much that I ended up getting a drip coffee set.
So I was back in Kyoto a month later and went again. The coffee was again superb. I had Take it Easy and tried Ave Maria. Both were fantastic, although I think I prefer the former. This time the owner Masaki-san has hired Akiko-san who speaks English very well to interact with foreign customers. I learned a lot about the shop from her. So they have started to offer a coffee tour which showcases the roasting process and the hand dripping process. I didn't get a chance to join because I will be gone by the time the next tour is offered. I will try to join next time I am in Kyoto.
