Solid Izakaya with seasonal delicacies and Japanese sakes from Fukui Prefecture.
We went when they were full, but the staff offered to call me when seats opened up. Received call about 20-30 minutes later, so we went!
FOOD 5 All of the dishes we ordered were made with quality ingredients and the recipes have been perfected over time. We ordered sashimi, heshiko, eggplant, aji fry (stuffed with plum), renkon chips, mozuku, buta no kakuni, chiayu tempura, cold somen and inaniwa udon in addition to multiple drinks. Total was ¥14,600 for two people, which we found very reasonable.
SERVICE 5 Service was quick with a cheerful attitude. Very nice. Family owned and operated. Father is the chef, son is the other chef, daughter is the server. Amazingly efficient.
ATMOSPHERE 4 Counter seating with a few tables. Simple, but it was a bit hot at the end of the counter. Must have been much hotter in the kitchen.
OVERALL 4.5 would definitely visit again and...

We were busy catching the flies when some landed on our dishes. We complaint many times to the staff, but the lady just laugh and say "the flies come from outside, haha". They feel no shame that their customer got flies as their dinner.

We went Japan for the sake of getting cheap products and already have no expectations at their service, but this is still worst than what we...
Read moreWow!! The chef takes such great care of each item ordered. Our favorites were the mackerel over rice, the boiled fish, and the noodles in a fresh broth. Additionally, the grilled fish and veggies were amazing, prepared over charcoal, and the sashimi was very fresh. I cannot recommend this place enough. Tomorrow will be their 1 month anniversary, congratulations and good luck on many good months and years ahead.
