Gyuzen Shijo Karasuma store — Restaurant in Kyoto

The communication was difficult since our japanese is very basic and there was no staff who could speak English. We tried to explain that something seemed wrong but the staff didn't tried to understand or help (we also used Google translate). We felt uncomfortable calling them 4 times to explain without any answer except "it's ok" so we just finished quickly and left.

We paid $20 per person for almost nothing on the table: 5 paper thin meat slices per person + vegetables (the vegetables for 2 people could fit in one small rice bowl). We are not even big eaters, we are usually more than full with only one dish in any other restaurant we tried.

2 options: either their one-person set is outrageously pricey for what you get, or they didn't serve the right quantity (at first, they thought we ordered the all you can eat option and brought the ingredients, then we clarified that we wanted the one-person set and they didn't adjust the quantity + we got no udon).

We went to 7eleven just after our meal since we were starving...

The little food that we were able to try was good though, too bad we were not able to properly taste it. The staff is also friendly but avoids the situation when they don't...

I was fooled by their ads ! When i tried to google shabu2 restaurants, in the ads they have 5.0 rating !

However, the meat was just decent. And the service too. They wont bother cooking for u or checking on u unless u call them for the bill. We had our dinner course and the noodles came after we asked for the bills. Such a greatttt turn off. And as i want to review this restaurant, i googled its name and found out that it's actually a 3.9 rating. I was totally fooled by their ads that showed 5.0

Ive been to japan soooo many times and this is the first time i got super disappointed with a restaurant. Please dont show 5.0 rating in your ads as your resto definitely hasnt reached...

We decide to have a shabu-shabu and shiku-shabu dinner in this place and we do not strongly recommend it. The quality is poor and is not comparable to the price too (we opted for the formula with wagyu and it was really bland). Also, the udon and rice, came practically when the dinner was over. In addition to the bad dinner, the owner acted boorish and rude at the time of payment when we asked him about the bill because the amount was different to the prices listed on the menu.
