Hyakushokuya — Restaurant in Kyoto

So we were told that they only serve 100 meals a day during lunch.

We went early, waited about 15 mins and got our seats. It wasn't a big restaurant, that's why seats are pretty limited.

Menu was easy as the options were quite fixed and standard. We were an English menu too.

Food wise, the beef bowl was not as great as I had hoped for. But for the price, I suppose this was it. A special garlic garnishing was provided to go with the beef and it turned out pretty tasty.

It was an open concept eatery so you could see the crew do their stuff. The counter ladies were doing a great job waiting, serving and cleaning.

If never been there, give it a shot. But I wouldn't travel out of my way just to eat there...

場所は阪急「西院」駅から歩いて5分くらい。住宅街の中に佰食屋はあります。駐車場はありませんが、すぐ近くにコインパーキングあるため車で行っても問題ありません。ぼくも車で行きました。佰食屋は国産牛を使ったステーキ丼とハンバーグのお店。1日100食限定 の人気店です。そのためランチタイムしか営業していません。これはオーナーである中村 朱美さんの考えだそうで、メディアや雑誌にもよく取り上げられていておもしろいのでぜひ読んでみてください。お店は西院店のほかに、阪急河原町駅に「すき焼き」「肉寿司」、阪急大宮駅に「カレー」の専門店がそれぞれあります。

Great for lunch and meat lovers … you can basically choose from 3 meals (bowl, separate ingredients or patty). This place is a 5 star review for a casual lunch place … it’s nothing super special, but very solid and tasty. Be aware of wait times during the peak hours (12-13:30) it’s much less busy form 13:30 onwards. Prices range from ¥1200-1500 p.person (you can always add more of course). We didn’t try the patty, which looks great and we would definitely try it another time - which means also, yes it’s recommended for lunch and it’s a definite...
