Decided to try their Kani Fest season-limited Rokka option. The place itself certainly does make you feel welcome, and the staff are nice and polite as they welcome you, lead you to your seat and offer the hot towel. For my choice, I thought that the variety of food options was good, and the serving staff introduced each dish with nice professionalism. Depending on your palate, you might find some of them a bit lacking compared to others, but I thought it was nicely balanced. Having the sauces certainly enhanced the crab taste for me. For 7k+ yen, it's a bit expensive, but I think the overall experience was worth the price.

What you would expect from a high-end restaurant. Good service. Good food. Not too busy on a weekday so walk-ins are easy. Serving size was appropriate (although be ready for one serving of kamameshi per person if you order it). Price range for lunch is roughly ¥2000-4000, with some seasonal choices on the menu as well. Edit: weekends are busy and private rooms tend to be fully booked pretty early.

The crab dishes were good, but not that amazing. We honestly had better crab elsewhere. After 4 attempts we were able to secure a reservation at Kani Doraku. Considering the efforts to secure a seat, I don’t think the food lived up to the hype. Dishes were cooked simply to highlight the flavors of the crab, which was just okay. The service was nice, fast and attentive.

It's a chain restaurant probably all over Japan but the quality is really good everywhere. The dishes you see in the picture are included in a course menu. You can enjoy crabs cooked in multiple ways: sashimi, boiled, tempura, etc. Crabs are commonly eaten in winter but if you go to the restaurant, you can enjoy it in any seasons.

Have been to several other outlets in Tokyo and Osaka, so far this outlet in Kyoto is definite one with the best ambience - perhaps it’s Kyoto. Our group of 4 was assigned a table with a view of inner Japanese garden. Food is good in general - but several fried dishes can be improved.

We had One of best meal in Kyoto. You could enjoy traditional Japanese dishes full of carb. The service level are excellent. Better go during lunch time to enjoy the lunch meal at very very good rate. Strong recommend
