Read moreCame here for my birthday since we were craving beef. We were greeted and seated right away. We got the wagyu ribloin, wagyu yakiniku, child's set, and japanese spirit beer (no draft beer here). The child's set arrived first. Our daughter was delighted. The pudding addition was very special. She finished her bowl very quickly and was happy with her meal. My yakiniku set was really tasty. I loved the egg on top, it really elevated the flavor of the meat. The wagyu ribloin set was the more complex one. We were given instructions to eat it three ways: on its own, with condiments, and as a soup. I tried all and can't tell you which was my favorite because each way was delicious. The wagyu meat melted in your mouth like butter. Overall it was a great dining experience. The service is also top notch. I noticed one of the servers saw a patron with a rented kimono about to sit, and she stopped her to fix her outfit before she sat down. I was amazed at their attention to detail, quality of their food, and ambience. We were lucky enough to sit by the window which overlooks the beautiful garden. Prices are not too high, considering the quality of the meat and sides that come with it. I definitely and highly...
Read moreWe came here for lunch... the place was easy to locate with many other restaurants nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the decor was cozy and relaxing.
We ordered a 160g beef ribloin set with tofu (yudofu), and a 160g beef ribloin 3-way set (the proper name starts with the letter H but I can't remember it...) These had to be some of the best beef I have ever eaten anywhere. It was juicy, tender, and intensely beefy with a delightful char-grilled flavour coming through. Whilst I wasn't a big fan of the pickled vegetable (intended as the appetizer), that's likely just my own preference against pickles in general. The tofu was soft and oozed with soy flavour, a perfect match for the soy-based stock served on the side. The 3-way set took the experience even further -- the 3 ways referred to the beef and rice eaten as is, eaten with additional condiments, and eaten with dashi stock added. Each way of eating offered a completely different but somehow harmonious experience. These all for 8800 yen -- not cheap at all but worth every penny. Overall this meal was really one to die for. 11 out of 10 recommended to everyone that had the fortune of visiting Kyoto...
