Food is amazing, no problem for non-japanese customer as the waiters speak english fluently, the place is also quire convenient and close to the Tenryuji Temple.
We ordered the Sirloin Gyukatsu and Tongue Gyukatsu set menu. Each comes with salad, onsen egg, and miso soup, as well as condiments to dip your meat into.
The sirloin is tender. You cook it for a bit, dip it into the onsen egg and sauce/condiments - pefection!
The tongue is also super nice. It has a rather chewy texture, but becareful not to overcook it as it may be too rubbery! (I did once, never again)
The miso soup has a quite different taste than other regular miso soup, but it tasted really fresh!
Overall, the Gyukatsu set menu is perfect for you, pre- or post-temple visit. Perhaps it is even better during cold winter time. The beer is also nice during a hot summer weather we had during our visit.
The waiters are also really friendly, helpful and speak good english - no worry for english speaker!

Read moreHad an amazing dining experience at Kyoto Katsugyu today with my parents! The beef quality was absolutely outstanding - so tender and juicy with perfect seasoning. What impressed me most was how professional and knowledgeable the staff were. They explained each dish in great detail, from the ingredients to how to best enjoy the meal, which really helped us foreigners appreciate the essence of Japanese cuisine. Seeing my parents so happy and satisfied made bringing them here such a wonderful decision! The restaurant atmosphere was comfortable and perfect for family dining. This is definitely one of the best restaurants I've been to in Kyoto - both the food quality and service exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend and will definitely be...
Read morebreaded beef cutlet chain. a nice change from tonkatsu.
get the signature wagyu set - marbled and tender. of course it can't compare to yakiniku / steakhouses in terms of quality but is good enough for the purposes of katsu.
definitely prefer the signature version to the thick cut tenderloin one (which has a lot less marbling).
be careful not to overcook the beef as the hot plate is actually quite hot and cooks the meat very fast. although i would say that a slightly longer cooking time is advisable to bring out the flavour of the meat and to crisp up the panko breading. i say this even though i usually prefer my beef steak medium rare.
condiments really bring out the flavour of the meat.
got the sukiyaki add on too which was...
