After visiting the nearby Bamboo Forest, we came by for a break and to have some drinks. It was 4.00pm plus.
The coffeeshop was double storey and it was crowded when we arrived. We managed to get a table on the ground floor after a good 10-15mins wait (and another 15mins wait for our drinks). There's a waiting area near the entrance of the coffeeshop.
The ambience was cosy and nice, bright and it was spacious with beautiful decors with plants and decorative local arts pieces.
We ordered the cappuccino and they were very fragrant and flavourful. Very nice indeed.
There was a washroom on the ground floor and it was locked with a notice "This toilet was out of order. use the one on the 2nd floor". So customers had to walk up a flight of stairs to use the washroom. But surprisingly, we saw the staff entering the one on the ground floor from time to time. So it should be "staff room" and not "out of order". But for customers who had difficulty in walking, especially walking up the stairs, this would be very inconvenient and inconsiderate act!
Value for money was ok as it was within the range from other coffee chains. But considering it was at a touristy location, the price...
Read moreIf you’re around Kyoto Saga area and looking for a cozy coffee spot to take a break, Ueshima Coffee House is a solid pick. I dropped by recently and honestly, it was a chill experience. The vibe is very relaxed — kind of like a classic Japanese-style café but with a modern comfort twist.
I ordered their milk coffee, which was smooth and comforting. I’d rate it a solid 8 out of 10 — nothing too bold, but it hit the spot, especially for an easy afternoon drink. The temperature was perfect and the milk-to-coffee ratio was nicely balanced.
What stood out to me the most though was the service. The staff was super polite, welcoming, and quick. I felt taken care of the whole time, even when it got a bit busier.
The place itself is really nice. Clean, spacious, and comfortable. It’s the kind of spot where you can sit for a while, read, journal, or just unwind after walking around the area. I’d give the ambiance and space a 9 out of 10.
So yeah — if you’re in the area and just want a peaceful coffee break, definitely check this place out. I’d go...

They are located right outside the Bamboo forest path exit, and it gets very busy around 12pm. They offer really good Sandwiches and Salads, and compared to America the portion size is less but not very less. They shouldn’t definitely put less ice in juice. After removing ice the juice was only 25% of the cup :(
We sat outside on 2F looking over the street and the hills, can you spot the Sakura in...
