DO NOT BOOK HERE. This hotel is NOT worth the money. My wife and I did a 3 week trip in Japan for our honeymoon and the only bad experience we had in Japan with our bookings was this hotel. We decided to book one night here and were really looking forward to it. Seeing as it was one of the more expensive bookings we had made, we wanted to take advantage of the hotel while there. Unfortunatley my wife who suffers from back issues was going through a back crisis at the time we arrived. She couldn't really walk at all so we wanted to go to the hotel retaurant for dinner. However the restaurant was closed and they had not given us any notice before our check-in date. The lounge area was also closed, there was no room service or any sort of food service at all. The staff was not helpful in the slightest and didn't see any issue with the fact that the hotel we spent the most on offered almost nothing when it comes to actual hospitality or service. I ended up having to go find street food (which was pretty delicious) and bring it back to my wife in the room since she couldn't walk.

The room was obviously beautiful and the view of the mountain is really nice. But in all honesty you don't get your money's worth AT ALL. Save yourself the money and you can just do breakfast at the restaurant (if it's open) and stay somewhere else for the night.

In fact after our experience we were supposed to spend three nights at a luxury hotel in Hakone by the same owner and we went online to do more research because we were so appalled by our stay. We then see that they put a notice on the site that there was going to be construction the entire time we would be there but hadn't sent us an email. We promptly cancelled and booked an airbnb with a beautiful view and private onsen and saved ourselves over $1,000.

TLDR: Not worth the amount you pay. Terrible service, hardly...

A Tranquil Gem in the Heart of Arashiyama MUNI KYOTO is an absolute gem. Nestled right by the river in the charming town of Arashiyama, the location alone feels like a serene retreat. The hotel itself is gorgeous—impeccably clean, thoughtfully designed, and seamlessly blends modern luxury with natural beauty. We stayed on the first floor with a garden and water view, which was so peaceful and scenic it felt like stepping into a painting. The room was spotless, beautifully laid out, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail felt intentional. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was a standout—delicious, artfully prepared, and a true culinary experience. Highly recommend MUNI KYOTO for anyone looking for a boutique stay that’s both refined and relaxing. It was the perfect base for exploring Arashiyama and an experience in itself.

I recently stayed at Hotel Muni Kyoto and had a fantastic experience. The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and many of Kyoto's popular tourist attractions. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing excellent recommendations for restaurants and sights to see. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and plenty of amenities. I particularly enjoyed the Japanese-style bath and the beautiful rooftop terrace, which offered stunning views of the city. The breakfast view was picturesque with top quality service Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel Muni Kyoto to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and stylish place to stay in Kyoto. Thank you to the staff for making my visit so memorable!

Spacious and serene, Muni Kyoto offers an exceptional stay with large rooms, complete privacy, and a calming, zen-like view. The gentle sound of flowing water just outside the room adds to the tranquil ambiance, making it easy to relax and unwind. The bed—a generous double queen—ensures a restful night’s sleep. I booked the half-board option, which included dinner at MUNI Alain Ducasse, the hotel’s Michelin one-star contemporary French restaurant. Every dish was exquisite—an unforgettable culinary experience. But the true highlight of Muni Kyoto is its unbeatable location. Nestled right by the picturesque Katsura River and just a short stroll from the iconic Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, it’s perfectly situated for both relaxation and exploration.
