Sukiyaki ten no meshi gionhonten is exceptionally a hidden gem in the Kyoto near the gion district! I actually found this place out of surprise and the only thing was on my mind waa sukiyaki.
Rachel greeted us in the door with high energy and very attentive service throughout our experience. We end up picking the Kobe beef sukiyaki and kuroge wagyu sukiyaki course for two! The course comes into 4 whichever meat you decide, a set of skewers, Wagyu Korean beef yuke, and ice cream for dessert.
The service here was quite exceptional and all the workers seem very passionate when they are cutting the meat right at your table! Unexpected show, but it made the experience quite enjoyable!
The food here does not lack either, the meat quality they use here are quite fresh and temperature controlled where when you cook it in the sukiyai you still retain the flavor! The egg dip with the meat for sure added more depth into the flavor which melts into your mouth! The dessert was a nice compliment to finish off a nice meal and it was really sweet they offer a Polaroid picture in the end for memories
Overall this place needs to get more exposure and I would for sure come back here again if I...

We had an unforgettable dinner at this restaurant in the heart of Gion. From start to finish, everything was flawless — the ambiance, the service, and above all, the food.
The highlight of the evening was without a doubt the meat. Perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor — it was honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. Each bite was a reminder of the incredible quality and skill that went into the preparation. Whether it was wagyu or another premium cut, it was melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
The staff was warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the setting was both elegant and intimate, capturing the refined spirit of Kyoto.

Read moreThis was my first time at sukiyaki restaurant, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The food, service, and staff were all exceptional. The sukiyaki itself was delicious. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the balance of sweet and savory in the broth was perfect. They had high quality beef. What stood out just as much as the food was the service. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. It was also incredibly helpful that the staff spoke English, which made ordering a breeze and allowed for a much more relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. They were patient and happy to answer our questions about the menu. If you're looking for an amazing sukiyaki meal served by a great staff in a comfortable atmosphere, I highly...
