Nagomiya — Restaurant in Kyoto

I live around the corner from this place. The food is actually good. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. Hole-in-the wall neighborhood spot filled with mainly Chinese locals. The only reason I deducted a star is for their very, very, very inconsistent hours. You never know if they'll be open or closed. I've checked Google and it's said "open" then traveled to the restaurant and the door sign says "closed." The people who work there have told me that Google maps is the most accurate place to check the hours although that's only half accurate most of the time. Some weeks they are not open at all. Some a few days. Some 5 days. 🤷It's a gamble if you want to be a regular, because you never know if they want to be open or closed. I think if they kept regular and consistent business hours they might actually build more business. If you're from out of town, have a backup plan of a place near this one you might eat. Tonight's dishes came out to be quite okay, and so decided to write a review. NOTE this review only based on the dishes we ordered. Third time here and last one was bad, beef noodle was bad. But tonight... my stomach was happy, like the grill mutton, the fried pork rib. Friend ordered the beef noodle, still bad. This place only for long term visitors who want a change in food. Went there one night and it was full. Wouldn't even let us wait or anything. Next night the place was 60% empty and they kept telling us "No English menu" and we had to insist several times that were ok with that before they would let us in.

Food was ok, definitely not worth the unfriendly service.
