After going hardcore on japanese cuisine for over 5 days we were in desperate need of some sort of western relieve. Brown Blossom made us very happy with their neapolitan style pizza (made in a neapolitan style oven by the way, impressive construction). The dough was delicious, the toppings incredibly fresh (San Marzanos, fresh basil, anchovies, very good olive oil, mozzarella di bufala) and the price was solid.
The service was kind and polite aswell, but maybe a bit confused having to handle almost 100% tourists. Talking about my fellow travelers: Please stay polite.. It was so jarring to watch and listen to some of the other guests acting entitled. Be kind to the workers and just use your translate app if you are having trouble getting your point across, you are a guest in an asian country eating pizza.. Relax!
Overall i can highly recommend this place to everyone who is in need of one of europes classics. You can definitely be proud of what you are doing here - would have never expected to eat such a delicious pizza in Japan!...
Read moreAmazing pizza!!! One of the best I've had in a while. We were on our way to another restaurant on our first night in Kyoto when we walked by this place. It was empty (most likely because it was still early) but something about it drew us in so we walked in. They asked if we had reservations then sat us at the last two chairs at the bar. We ordered the Quattro Formaggi and Buffalo Margherita pizzas and two Suntory beers. The pizzas came out quick and we literally inhaled it because it was that good. Honey comes on the side for the Quattro Formaggi and it takes the pizza to the next level! The light salt on the bottom of the margherita pizza added such a nice finish. The crust...perfect, airy, and pillowy. The two guys were really nice and friendly. Spoke enough English to help with our order. As we were there the place started to fill up and with the pizza this good I'm sure they stay pretty busy. Sounds like they accept reservations so I'd suggest making one or getting there early. We will...
Read moreLooking at the other reviews and photos from this Pizzeria, we were hoping for more. As many others, we came here to get a taste of the west after endulging in the local cuisine for two weeks. The staff was very friendly and since I really wanted a mushroom pizza I asked if I could break the rule of changing something on the menu and remove the egg on the pizza since I'm allergic, they said of course, no problem. Service was quick (around opening time). Unfortunately, I received the pizza with the raw egg on it. Fortunately, it was easy to scrape off as I'm not deadly allergic. The pizza itself was okay. I wasn't expecting the best pizza I've ever had, but for the price (¥2k), I was expecting more. There were some interesting flavors and a generous amount of mushrooms, but everything left something more to be desired. The bread was okay, but lacked in crunch and sponginess. I also had a taste of my partners margerita pizza and the sauce lacked body. There was some sweetness, but that...
