I arrived about 15 minutes early at 8:45 and left at 10:00.
All of the customers come between 9-10 which makes it very chaotic in such a small shop. I’m 5’7”, Caucasian, very pale, and I have extremely curly hair. I also do not speak Japanese. This was not the best place for me to go. The kimono are of good quality but due to my height (and I don’t consider myself a tall woman) I was limited to one rack. That was disheartening. I stood around in the undergarment for a while until someone could dress me. These ladies don’t mess around when it comes to how tight it should be. After I was dressed I had to wait for hair because there were 4 dressers but 1 hair person. The hair was the most disappointing thing about this whole experience. She did not know how to handle textured/curly hair. I ended up with a hideous style that made me look really old. They refunded me my money since I had to redo the hair myself, but the whole time I had that hairstyle I doubted even renting the kimono.
After I finished my hair they gave me shoes and I was sent on my way. I should have grabbed an umbrella and a coat because it hailed and rained most of the day. I was shivering in my kimono. I ended up returning the kimono before 3:00 because I was too cold and I couldn’t stand being outside freezing anymore. If you’re the appropriate size and have a straight hair texture this may be a good place to check out; however, it didn’t suit me and my experience was...

I find out this shop randomly, never experienced never knew whether it is good not. But after my wife wear it and I swear Ive ever seen my wife elegant like this. We returned the kimono after we took some pictures with some vintage and landscapes. And when we went back to our hotel in Osaka, my wife realize she left the wedding-lucky charm in this shop that is very important for us. I tried to contact them and they staffs were trying to helped us with passion. I never expected my wife’s wedding-lucky charm can be back. I am very appreciated that and if I come back to Kyoto again I will rent the kimono in this...
Read moreThere aren't that many options to choose from, but I liked the one I picked out. Bag and shawl options are limited and old. They also don't speak English, so I can't recommend if you don't speak Japanese.
You get hair set for free if you jump through multiple hoops of leaving reviews, posting on social media etc, and they check your review, so I would take the reviews with a grain of salt. The lady at the front is very cold and rude, kind of ruined...
