Sarasa Nishijin — Restaurant in Kyoto

Stopped by to check out the building and atmosphere. Nice place and very few customers. I got to sit wherever I wanted. Only 5 ppl inside when I got there (a group of 4, and a single customer). I made a huge mistake ordering green tea with ginger. It was like water and no taste of tea or ginger. And I paid 550 yen. Ridiculous!! I guess this place is for food and coffee but I felt like drinking tea at that moment. If they’re charging 5 bucks for a freakin drink, make a good one! It’s not that difficult to make good ginger tea, seriously. And, the service was SLOW even though it wasn’t crowded! I had to remind them I had only 10 min to finish my drink and leave as I had to work afterwards!

So i wasn’t happy with the drink and the service. I can just go to Starbucks and get a better drink/quick service...

Nick name the Onsen Cafe as is used to be a public bathhouse in the past. The place is like a blast back to the olden Kyoto with titles and pipes still intact.

The usual cocoa/hot chocolate is thick and sweet which is really good. However their special menu which is usually season is even better. The hot cocoa with marshmallow and Oreo latte was the best thing ever. Is sad that is not in the regular menu.

The food is not over salty and is doesn't give you a full punch of flavors but is a very mellow and comforting taste that doesn't make you sick of it.

The sukiyaki fried rice is one of the best I ever eaten, but recently they seem to take out of menu. (Could be seasonal) The cat favorite fried rice is also...

Disappointed！！！The architecture might be intresting but the service is unacceptable. As a well-known restraurant people come and wait in line, we went to there off peak time so there are not much people there. Our table was so close to other 2 customers so we asked if we can switch to another table(there were plenty of them)to keep the social distance,but the waitress said there has rules that big table only for 3+ people so we have to bear with it.

The food was below the average and you can tell they didn't pay much time and heart into it because the house is already attractive enough to keep customers come.
