Vegan friendly tantanmen! Soy Meat Soupless Tantanmen is located on the first floor of a building, a 5-minute walk from Matsumoto Station.
The noodles are flat and surprisingly chewy. Typically, tantanmen are mixed right away, but this restaurant carefully selects its ingredients so that you can enjoy it even before mixing. The taste changes drastically when the sauce is added! The black sesame sesame tantanmen is mildly spicy, so it is recommended for those who don't like spicy food.

Four empty bowls at the end. We went for the sesame noodles - was delicious to try before and after mixing. I think the spicy would've been good too, the sesame version had no heat. The yuzu sour I had was also very tasty and went down a treat! Very reasonably priced, fairly quiet when we went but we did eat quite early in...
Read moreThis restaurant is so underrated! I didn't think that one of the best meals I've had in Japan (so far) would be in Matsumoto. The menu is small, with only two dishes, but everything was so tasty! The noodles are thick and chewy; the toppings are varied, fresh, and colorful; and the sauces are so flavorful. The location is great, really close to the train station. If I lived here I'd...
