Kissa Blue Ribbon — Restaurant in Nagano

This wasn't my first choice for my morning cuppa. I only came here because the cafe that I wanted hasn't started their operation yet.

And boy was I surprised.

I stepped in with very low expectation. I walked passed a gentlemen, saw his thick toast with jam and I knew immediately this is what I wanted.

Didn't order the set like most of the reviewers here. I ordered thick toast with jam and a black coffee.

The shokupan was thick, had the right amount of toast while being soft at the same time. The obasan was very generous with the apricot jam spread. If you are not for sweetness then you can scroll to the next review.

The coffee was rich and well brewed. I don’t drink my black with any sugar or milk and I could still taste the coffee and apricot jam separately without one or the other losing their taste.

I will come back again. I have a soft spot for ojisan and obasan running small...

They allow smoking so thr atmosphere is very uncomfortable. The breakfast menu is extremely limited, three items that are not that great. And even when you point at what you want they bring you the wrong thing and then argue with you about what you want. Just keep pointing at the item on the menu that you want and politely keep repeating which one you actually want...
