Pizzeria Trattoria La Cotta — Restaurant in Nagano

Disclaimer: takes cash only like a good old pizzeria, but not to worry, the nearby Seven Eleven has an ATM, or only existing Mizuho Bank would have ATM for over-seas visitors.

Disclaimer 2: it’s fresh baked pizza, it will take a while till it’s ready. If you have a train to catch, or in any way on a hurry, you might wanna grab Subways or something faster. This place looked like a relaxing place to enjoy wine and meal.

Great Napoli pizza, kids-friendly, non-smoking, all a mom could ask for!

We visited with a toddler, and made a reservation at opening hour(17:30) just to be sure. Over that call, we were asked if a high chair was necessary. As we arrived, it was already placed by the table, which made our toddler very welcomed; made no fuss and sat right down!

While we waited for our first pizza, which is simply a cheese tomato bread for our toddler, he was able to eat snacks we had brought from home. This was especially helpful and made waiting part of the fun. Because they don’t have breadsticks and such to munch, you might want to grab something to tame your hungry child. (Please do ask if feeding something from outside is ok!!)

We also had shrimp fritters, vinegrett salad, grilled beef and another pizza. They were all perfect size for 2 adults to share, and new plates were offered per dish.

We didn’t try their wine, but there selection might be limited because we weren’t handed a wine list (or a desert menu.) It’s a great eatery...

The chef (who's alone in the kitchen) knows what he's doing with his pizzas. They're excellent. Nothing to fancy, focused on key ingredients like tomato sauce, olive oil, basil, cheese (smoked mozzarella is incredible). The dough is fine and tasty. Came with my 2 boys looking for authentic Italian pizza and came out more than satisfied.
