Isola — Restaurant in Nagoya

Upon writing my review and understanding previous reviews from the public, I am able to understand the poor service and atmosphere of this restaurant. As an Australian tourist visiting Japan for the second time, I have never been looked upon or turned away. While I was very welcomed in Osaka and Kyoto, I am very shocked by the staff here. As me and my sister were waiting for a table, we were trying to speak Japanese using translation and we could clearly see tables were available. The male server refused to let us enter with no explanation and was speaking some English. I understand my Japanese is poor but we were trying to translate via translation, however, still refused to let us enter as other customers were allowed to enter. I would understand being refused to enter a traditional Japanese restaurant to preserve the Japanese culture, however, this was an Italian inspired restaurant with the menu also written in English. Again, I never seen this or heard of a restaurant back at home in Australia refuse service to a foreigner who speaks...

Place was ok. Staff was friendly. Portions are very small in relation to the price. Salad and pasta dish was ridiculously small. Salad was basically 6-7 leaves on a plate with some salad dressing parmesan cheese, 2-3 small cherry tomatoes cut in half, some micro croutons. Don't bother ordering it. Pizza crust was on the soggy side. Would not come back to this place if I didnt have to. Don't understand that if you visit an Italian restaurant why don't they offer parmesan cheese, oregano, olive oil and bread tableside? Japan needs to get this right. Actually had to go somewhere else to eat after eating here. Left...

Dropped in for lunch after seeing some good reviews here - as well as a bottle of Peroni in a picture another reviewer had uploaded. Haven’t had a pizza and Peroni combo in years so was quite looking forward to it - only to find it wasn’t on the menu anymore!
