•Nagoya kissaten started the Japanese breakfast culture of coffee and toast. Most local Nagoya cafes will give you something free to go with your morning coffee. If you go here on a weekday (holidays excluded), you will get toast and a boiled egg with your coffee! •Their famous item, however, is anko butter toast sandwiches. It's classic to order it along with a cup o' joe. •Honestly, the taste is not anything to write home about. It's all about the atmosphere and warmth here! The service is so darn warm and friendly, and the atmosphere is super cozy. It's worth coming at least once! •It opens at 9, and I'd suggest getting there before that. We got there at 8:40 and were the 3rd party in line. Shortly after we arrived, the line started wrapping around the block. •If you get there for the first round of customers, they will bring everything out to the tables in order. Each table gets a towel and water, then each table order gets taken, then each table receives its order. (I'm not sure if it's like this all day long or just the...

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Karasu - it was like traveling back in time. I visited this cafe with a friend and we had to wait a little before we got seated as it was the lunch peak hour (the queue behind us was even bigger). The waitress seemed a bit stressed as well, but she was always very friendly. The food was decent, but very tasty and also reasonable in price. We had the homemade curry and the red bean butter toast, which is a Nagoya speciality. I would say that Karasu is a really good introduction into the retro cafe culture in Nagoya and I would definitely come back to try out the other...

Cafe serving coffee, tea, bread, toast, and sandwiches and some noodle. Not a spacious shop. Staff are polite, provide standard service.

Limited food on the menu. Some food are served after morning etc

Coffee ☕ : ordered Karasu Coffee come with a slice toast. Coffee is quite nice. Tastes not too bitter and not too sour. Toast with butter is crunchy.

Tea 🍵: taste ok.

Sandwiches 🥪 : red bean paste sandwich is too sweet for me. Egg sandwiches taste are just nice.

Price are reasonable.

Recommended to try out if you are a...
