Kumachan Meieki — Restaurant in Nagoya

This is a ramen restaurant with a red sign that is a few minutes' walk from Nagoya Station in the underground shopping mall called Miyako. The shop has a significant history that can be felt from its exterior and interior design.

I had miso ramen which was an orthodox and nostalgic dish topped with chashu (roast pork), bean sprouts, green onions, and Chinese leeks. I made it spicier with the table chili pepper. I understood the reason for its long-standing business and never-ending customer base.

A very well known ramen place for locals and a well deserved reputation. The place is not that big, as it's common with eating places located inside the subway station, but it's very dynamic and the service is fast so you seldom have to wait. The food it's incredibly good and it's mainly operated by grandmas with a very warm atmosphere. Not only the food is good, but also the servings are huge and you can even choose a set menu option. The price is definitely not expensive. It's a great place for a quick and yummy bite, either by yourself or with friends. You can seat by the counter, on a big shared table or by the window counter. You get complimentary cold water and the staff refills your cup even before you notice yourself that need to. The location is perfect, right inside Nagoya's main station. . . .
