If you are to believe the young vloggers traipsing through Japan, Nagoya is known for a number of local culinary jewels like unagi (eel), tebasaki (chicken wings), and miso-katsu. However, the one that drew my attention the most were the fluffy egg sandos a couple of young Korean travelers found at this local bakery cafe. As luck would have it, my husband and I checked into a hotel just a couple of blocks away and didn't feel like venturing too far for dinner.

Yes, we wanted an egg sando for dinner because we're boring that way. My husband ordered the ¥780 BLTT, which was a combination of fresh vegetables, bacon, tomato, and egg inserted in their housemade kinoko bread, a chewier, soybean-based cousin of the more familiar milk bread. We couldn't figure out what the L and the second T referred to in the name, but I decided the T must stand for the fluffy tamago which was definitely the standout ingredient. With no lettuce, the L remained a mystery.

I went for their daily special, the ¥900 Spam Sandwich. They laughingly describe Spam as "a type of sausage" and layered arugula, tomato, pickled cabbage and tuna cole slaw, and fluffy egg in between thin slices of milk bread. It was an awesome sammie with a thick slab of Spam that was certainly significantly higher quality than the kind you find in a tin. That should've been enough carbs for the week, but we decided to share the ¥800 Carbonara Toast just because it sounded so atypically Japanese.

Bacon, pancetta, and shaved Parmesan cheese were piled on a thick, airy piece of toast with a raw egg that provided a liberal sopping opportunity that was quite tantalizing for unexpected Italian flavors. We had room for only a couple of bites, but hey paisan, that was enough. We washed all of this comfort food down with a couple of thirst-quenching ¥610 Iced Cafe au Laits. Those Korean boys were right to be excited about this place, and I can see why they returned here the following day.

FOOD - 5 stars... really awesome sandos with fluffy eggs the key draw...the Omelet Sandwich looks delish AMBIANCE - 4 stars...sleek, Western-style cafe SERVICE - 4 stars...a bit automatic but truly efficient TOTAL - 5 stars...definitely for the hardcore sando...

Thick cut toast surprised me with how delicious it was and is a must try. Some items are only available for ordering after 11 o'clock, while others must be enjoyed in the restaurant. Self service machine with English outside to queue. No need to physically line up. QR code allows you to check your position in queue with phone.

Thick cut toast: The best choice, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it must be eaten while hot. The bread itself is already sweet, but adding honey makes it even more delicious. Must order this.

Egg sandwich: Tasty, but lacks surprise and is similar to a regular egg sandwich. It is not as savory as the bacon and egg toast or as sweet and delicious as the thick cut toast. If you don't like bacon, you can order this egg sandwich instead of the bacon egg toast.

Bacon and egg toast: The bacon and egg sandwich is delicious, but it can be a bit heavy/filling. If you're really hungry, give it a try; otherwise, you can go for the regular egg sandwich.

French toast: This French toast is comparatively softer and sweeter than the thick toast. However, it doesn't have the same mouthwatering sweetness as the thick cut toast. It's still tasty but not as good as the thick cut toast.

In summary, the thick cut toast is a must-try item. You can choose between the egg sandwich and the bacon toast, and it's optional to try the...

Went there due to the high score, never thought it was an influence shop. The bread is apparently made of national yeast, it tasted well, very tender and smell good. The service is just nothing. We thought first for eat in, but more than 30 numbers ahead us, so we changed directly to take away. The girl doesn’t want to speak any English, we asked if it is possible to take away, even with the translation app, no simple YES or NO. Finally we made the order, only said 11 am start take away. We stond right in front of her, when 11am, local people came in to pick up, we are not sure if ours is ready. Show her the ticket and the order was just there a while ago, she didn’t bother to call us. This is unacceptable and incredible. The bread is good, but the...
