I love Unagi very much, and as a true Unagi lover, trying Nagoya's famous hitsumabushi is always a must when I’m in the area. This iconic dish, with its perfectly grilled eel and flavorful rice, is an experience in itself. Sawasho, a fantastic spot for hitsumabushi, is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Hilton Nagoya, making it an easy choice for a delicious meal. A little hard to find from the outside as there is no signage with its English name. But once you get inside, every single staff member speaks perfect english. I arrived at 6pm on a weekend without a reservation, and only waited 5 mins or less for a table. Once seated the service was really fast also. I had to try the Nagoya special Hitsumabushi which tasted incredible. The menu is not very extensive so if you are not feeling like unagi, there is no alternative. It's a nice setting and the service is good, but this is the first unagi I tried in Nagoya, recommended by the hotel. It was good but certainly no wow factor. Not too indifferent from what I've tried in other parts of the country. The price though, is slightly steeper. For me, it's a been there, tried it, now it's time to forget...
