Iโll start by saying I was not really impressed with this dining experience, having been to other branches in Nagoya and Osaka where I found the restaurants of high standard, I cannot say the same for this one. The sad thing is though the chicken wings are delicious maybe the next time I crave Yama Chan Iโll order takeout. The service was rushed and even though staff were trying to emulate the Japanese customer experience they failed, one wait staff placed a dish I ordered onto my table and thought that I did not see he had dropped 2 pieces of cabbage, not a word or apology was mentioned but a few minutes later another staff saw the cabbage on the ground and picked them up and threw them into the bin, I saw one female staff member rifle through the bin when she had mistakenly thrown away a customer order that she had written, she did not was her hands after touching the bin and continued handling plates of food. When I ordered drinks, they arrived warm, I was looking forward to a refreshing soft drink as it was a hot day, by putting ice cubes into a warm drink does not do the job. As I said before, the product is excellent, the service was average at the best, management may need to retain these people to the standard that is expected in Japan. The other thing I have a problem with is seeing wait staff wearing slippers to work-not very professional looking. Sorry Yama Chan you need to lift your game, no more dining-in for me,...
ย ย ย Read moreWe were hunting for tebasaki, but multiple restaurants turned us away because they were fully booked. We thought weโd have better luck at Sekai no Yamachan, since the restaurant has multiple storeys. We put our name down and although there were some people waiting outside, groups were being called swiftly, so we didnโt have to wait long.
The tebasaki was the highlightโa flavour bomb in the mouth. We went with the recommended spice level, which provided just enough heat. We were also interested in the katsu skewers with red miso sauce because we didnโt have a chance to eat a proper misokatsu while in Nagoya, but it was just overly salty and a little mushy. In general, the food here was quite salty, but I suppose thatโs expected of an izakaya where people normally pair their snacks with alcohol.
Service could be improved, since it was quite slow and they even ignored us once when we pressed the bell to order. Sad that the gyoza took a long time to come out just for some of them to be burnt. They also forgot to give us our oshibori when seating us. Perhaps more staff needs to be hired.
Regardless, Iโd come back again for the tebasaki alone, although should the service quality dip even further, then Iโd have to rethink...
ย ย ย Read moreStaff members are rude and poorly trained, so they do not care about the client, and they behave with arrogance just pointing with their fingers and telling people where to sit. They pretend they don't listen when you call them. The food is mediocre and has small portions. I wonder if there's any manager at all. This place has a horrible air conditioning system (if there is one) and smells disgusting. Food is mediocre. The toilets are a nightmare. You shouldn't use them before eating. In the restaurant, there is no emergency exit at the bottom, passing the kitchen, suggesting a serious fire hazard. I wonder how they passed the fire prevention and restaurant hygiene inspections. I strongly suggest you consider avoiding this restaurant, especially if you are staying in a hotel because the smell will stick to your clothes and bags and can only be...
