My first time trying this type of BBQ and I have to say I am very impressed with how they cooked the chicken(no picture) wagyu beef brisket, pulled pork, etc. To describe it the chicken was so soft you won't need to use a knife to part it into smaller pieces which was convenient since me and my wife had to carry my son on one hand while eating; the chicken being soft didn't compromise the flavour which is skin-deep yep! The flavour was in the chicken meat itself and with the juices; The pulled pork was also tasty and it had this sweet sensation in every bite in your mouth I guess they make their own rubbings or seasonings; The wagyu beef brisket was so soft and again it didn't require using a knife. I watch a lot of food bloggers like Mark Wiens and one of his episode was about smoked pork/beef brisket and I can tell the softness is exactly the same as the shop where he went to; ofcourse the flavour was superb and the side-dishes was also amazing the grilled veggies were perfectly done not so cooked and not so raw; the french fries were crispy outside and soft inside which made my boy eat a lot of it; I ordered caramel cheesecake for dessert after eating the signature plate and wagyu beef brisket ( I have a huge appetite )and this one was also great I just wish I ordered the raspberry cheesecake instead.
The price is just about right considering the quality of the meat they use, the seasonings, rubbings are probably their own secret recipe including their bbq sauces and hot sauce!
We made reservations through phone assuming the place would be packed but we were surprised that we were the first customer even after arriving late; there were four of us me my wife and kid and mom we had the privilege of choosing our table and they served the food extremely fast than I was expecting it to be.
My family is multi-lingual we speak nihonggo, english and filipino which kind of confused the staff which one to talk to which was kind of funny. I hope we didn't stress the staff even after ordering so many.
I could've given a 5 star but I really don't believe in perfect ratings because there is always room for improvement.
I will definitely come back and introduce this shop with my friends.
Read moreResponse to owner response: You are either lying through your teeth, scammed us because you knew we were from out of town, or you messed up our order. #3 is the only okay answer. We talked to you, the owner. Many times. We thought you were nice. And your friend and frequent customer crashed our party, which was fine, and he even said to you, "give them some more food, this is pitiful," and you laughed and walked away.
We paid for the 4000 yen per person deluxe menu. 1 slice of bell pepper per person is not "grilled vegetables." 5 people had to split 4 ribs. 5 people had to split 30 french fries, its french fries! It should have been 5x the amount. 5 people had to split 3 oz of potato salad. Barely one fork full each. There was so little chicken one person got known. One sausage cut 5 ways is not a deluxe 4000 yen meal. Every single person our party left hungry and we had to go to a second dinner. Say you are sorry. Say you messed up. Don't lie. Don't say it a deluxe meal when its BARELY an amuse bouche of each item. Your food tastes great. I get that its expensive to source certain items, but chicken and friend fries and potato salad costs less than 100 yen per 1kg. We spent the extra 1000 to ribs and didn't even get enough for everyone to have a whole rib.
Update: visit #2 it breaks my heart to write this review. The owner was there and was super nice and friendly and accomodating. The food was delicious. The outdoor seating was amazing. We ordered the course meal and it was terrible. I honestly couldn't believe the tiny amounts of food we got. For 4000 yen we should have had at least 3x the food. The amount of fries we had to split between 5 people should have been the amount each of got. The potato salad and Cole slaw we had to split should have been one serving for each person. We ordered ribs with an s, but barely had enough enough each person to have one. There was supposed to be chicke but there was so little I didn't even get a serving. Sausages? Were great, but only a serving size of 2cm per person. I know inflation is bad, I know prices are going up, but this was so offensive I honestly though they made a mistake. Chicken costs 1000 yen for 1kg. We should have EACH had an entire chicken thigh. Not a single thigh cut up into 5. We spent 35,000 yen on the food and beer and left hungry.
To be fair, some of my favorite restaurants have terrible course sets. Sadly this place is no differnt. Do not order a course. Just order a full meal. The flavor is great. The restaurant is great. The staff is super friendly (and English able if you need it).
Btw. They sell their bbq sauce on Amazon and it easily the best you can buy in Japan. I will always support this restaurant when I can, but won't be getting course set again.
(visits :1) I was here when SA won the world cup. Good game. I'm from the south, where REAL bbq is from. I've had bbq in Japan that was terrible. This was the real deal. All I had other than beer was a pulled pork sandwich, but it was good. They have...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. We made a short weekend trip to Nagoya to visit LegoLand for our daughter’s birthday and decided to try out Midtown BBQ for our first night here. We arrived at the restaurant at around 6:15pm and the host asked us if we had a reservation - we said no, we’ve never usually needed reservations for American eateries in Japan. She then asked us to wait a moment. Another Japanese server comes over to us shortly after and guides us to a table. At this point the restaurant has a lot of empty tables available. The initial host then comes back and says the table is reserved. My husband and I clearly confused, explain to her that another server seated us here. She again doubles down that the table is reserved (without apologizing for the other lady’s mistake) and suggests that we eat on the outside patio (the weather was rainy and cold so the fact that she even mentioned that as an alternative was ludicrous).
She then mentions to us that there are available seats upstairs. We go upstairs and a young man greets us and again asks us if we have reservations, we again say no. He says the only options are bar seats, which clearly don’t work for us because we have our young daughter with us. I will again mention that the tables upstairs are also empty.
At this point we’re visibly annoyed with the absolute inefficiency of the employees here, their lack of communication with each other and their absolute subpar customer service. We decide to leave when the manager (I’m assuming he’s the manager) approaches us and again, without apologizing, suggests that a table is available until 8:30. Of course we decline the offer because they seem to be playing some odd joke on us at this point, there’s no other logical reason for how horrible the...
