Been here several times and it's been great, but this past Sunday's lunch was so disappointing. Ordered the today's lunch.
Salad plate. 4 things on the plate. An ice cream scoop size of potato salad that was bland. A table spoon sized mound of what I think was curry pulled pork with a triangle fried tortilla chip. A single slice of baguette with a creamy gorgonzola cheese spread over only half. And a green lettuce salad with a thin slice of Prosciutto. The lettuce was the most exciting thing on the plate.
Main On to something a little better. I ordered the Chicken Fajita. There were 4 fajitas of a reasonable size. The chicken was nicely cooked but had not been marinated. Very simple indeed. The chicken skin had been topped off with paprika and mixed spices that just didn't taste balanced, delicious or Mexican. Underneath the chicken where stir fried vegetables including onions, red and yellow bell peppers and mushrooms. The mushrooms did not go well at all. The three side extremely small additions where, chopped avocado that had not much to do with Guacamole, salsa, and what I think were chopped jalapenos. There was only enough for 2 wraps before running out. More disturbing, there was no sour cream!
On to dessert. A delicious caramel moose tart. Drink. I ordered the red herb tea. Tap water would have had more flavor.
Overall First the good. Staff are excellent. Attentive, polite, respectful, etc, etc. Everything you'd expect from an establishment of that quality. The food presentation is lovely. The quality is great for a Sunday lunch in that area. The décor is delightful with a slight early American charm. Reminds me a couple of Steak houses I've been to in the US. The location is fantastic.
Now the not so good. The quality of the dishes is down right poor. It's eatable, and some may find it satisfying. I doubt you'd find anyone recommending their friends to go there.
Overall, disappointing on that day. Giving 3 stars considering past performance. Otherwise it'd be a 1...

While visiting Nagoya, I stopped by The Tower Tavern and was blown away by the quality, flavor, and atmosphere. This spot is a hidden gem for anyone craving a hearty Western-style meal at a fraction of the price you’d pay in cities like Manhattan.
I ordered the Iwai White Ale and the 200g Grilled Sirloin Steak (American beef, rare). In Japan, rare steak can be a sensitive ask, but after a quick conversation, the chef kindly approved. The result? A beautifully seared steak—tender, juicy, and topped with a rich, flavorful compound butter that perfectly complemented the bold flavor of the beef. It was spiced just right for an American palate, without losing any of its Japanese finesse.
The steak came sizzling on a grill plate with purple carrots and fries, both of which were seasoned to perfection—the fries were especially crisp and salty, just how they should be.
The Iwai White Ale was a frosty, refreshing pint and paired beautifully with the steak. Smooth and slightly citrusy, it balanced the richness of the dish perfectly. I finished the meal with a double espresso, rounding off the experience on a high note.
The ambiance reminded me of a cozy yet upscale Manhattan tavern, but with unbeatable prices and Japanese hospitality. Whether you’re a homesick traveler or simply want to try a Western-style meal done right in Japan, The Tower Tavern in Nagoya is an absolute must.

Read moreI recently visited the Tower Tavern Bar and Grill in Nagoya during my trip in March 2023, and overall, it was a great experience. After having Japanese food for four days straight, my wife and I were craving some Western cuisine, so we decided to try this restaurant.
I ordered the Fried Chicken and my wife ordered the Burger. Both dishes were good and satisfying. The Fried Chicken was crispy and well-seasoned, while the Burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and we felt like we got our money's worth.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was also enjoyable. It had a casual and laid-back vibe, which made it a great place to relax and unwind. The service was prompt and friendly, and the staff was accommodating to our needs.
Although we enjoyed our Western meal at the Tower Tavern Bar and Grill, we still have to say that we love Japanese food. But, this restaurant is definitely a good option for those who want to switch things up and try something different.
Overall, we recommend the Tower Tavern Bar and Grill in Nagoya for a satisfying and...
